Book on the tube

By anarchicgretel

Every few months the book people are reading on the tube in London synchronises. You’d think this would always be a small paperback book. But some years ago it was Vikram Seth’s “A Suitable Boy”, which is huge to lug around. So was the last Harry Potter book, which was hardback! At the moment it is Mister Pip by Lloyd Jones, which is a much more manageable size. It looks like this:

Mister Pip

I am feeling slightly smug as I bought mine in Wellington (where Lloyd Jones lives) last year and it has the Kiwi cover that looks like this (but with a ‘Montana medal’ sticker on it for extra authenticity):

Mister Pip (Kiwi version)

The other book on the tube is “A Quiet Belief in Angels” by RJ Ellory, which is also a Richard & Judy Book Club book. Probably not a coincidence.
